Mastercam X Corporate Certification Process
Certification
Process
NOCTI (Prerequisite Test)
Note: 2 years prior Mastercam programming experience
(verifiable) can be substituted for this test.
This test (or equivalent as determined by the MCCP)
is to pre-qualify applicants before beginning Mastercam
Certification. NOCTI is an independent organization that
tests for many different occupational certifications. Test
results are measured against a National Average. The test
requires 2 hours and all applicants must have a Machinist
Handbook available.
1. The successful applicant will complete the test with
a score of 75 or above and finish within the 2 hour time
limit.
2. The test will be administered by a Mastercam X
Certified Industrial Instructor (MCI).
3. A custom test designed by the CCC is an excellent
way to “tailor” this entry test around a specific set of
skills required by the company.
4. The standard NOCTI test has:
17 Computer Hardware questions
12 Hand Tool Material questions
8 Fundamental machining questions
11 G-code related questions
8 Shop Math questions
28 Drafting skills questions
13 Blueprint reading questions
20 Machining application questions
Certification Class
The successful applicant who passes the prerequisite test
will then attend a Certification Class administered by a
Mastercam X Certified Industrial Instructor (MCI). Mastercam
X Corporate Certification Program
classes may be held at the company’s facility or classes can
be held at an authorized Mastercam Version X Certification
industrial location.
Classes involve sharpening Mastercam skills and
introducing advanced techniques to get things done faster,
with higher quality, and more economically. This is an area
where the MCCP has a chance to introduce skills unique to
their operation that will then be verified and tested.
- Classes last 3 days.
- Classes must use Committee approved curriculum to
maintain the integrity of the Certification process.
- Classes must be held by an authorized industrial
MCI.
Certification Practical Test
This involves the successful programming and machining of
a test part in 5-6 hours. All parts are then independently
inspected by an MCI for proper dimensions and quality.
This is an area where the Mastercam
Corporate Certification Program
can really be creative and develop a test part that closely
mirrors their actual parts. This part can be a propitiatory
test that can only be used with your company’s permission.
We recommend that only one part be used and that it can be
machined with standard tooling.
- A part has to be developed within Mastercam,
programmed, and machined in 5-6 hours.
- The part should require more than one set up.
- The part should contain at least 6 tools.
- The part should require the use of machine cutter
compensation.
- The part should have at least one drilling
operation.
- The test part must be Committee approved.
Certification
To receive certification the finished part must be
approved a Mastercam Version X MCI and then sent to CNC
Software, Inc for final approval. Upon final inspection a
MCC will be issued to the successful applicant. Below are
the currently available certification levels.
Mastercam Certification Levels
- CPgmI End User Certification
Level 1
- CPgmII End User Certification
Level 2
Mastercam Corporate Certification Program leaves room for
creativity within a company to not only create an on-going
employee improvement and advancement program but to also
create an Endorsement program to add additional
Certification skills to an already existing MCC.
