Application Specific Training From time to time we are asked about application specific training. These requests have included 4 and 5-axis mill toolpaths, C-axis lathe toolpaths as well as other topics such as MoldPlus. If you have a specific topic or application you would like for us to assist you with, please give us a call. We can schedule a convenient time to review your application and provide assistance on your parts. Contact us for pricing information.

MASTERCAM TRAINING SEMINARSReserve your space NOW!!!
Now is an excellent time to attend a training class on Mastercam Cad/Cam Software. These classes are an excellent way to reduce the learning curve and get users trained and up to speed quickly on Mastercam. They contain useful information for the new user and the experienced user as well.
Training Class Descriptions
Introductory Milling The first day of this 5-day training focuses on the fundamentals of the Mastercam software, as well as the creation of geometry and dimensions. The last four days are spent creating toolpaths on the geometry drawn by the students. We will discuss how to check geometry for errors, and prepare it for toolpaths. The final day will be spent reviewing the skills learned by importing and drawing parts from print, preparing it for toolpaths, and then applying the appropriate paths. This will help to see how the process will work from start to finish Advanced 3D Geometry & Milling Toolpaths The Advanced class is a 4-day session discussing how to create surface/solid models and machine them with 3D toolpaths. Each of the surface types that Mastercam can create, and the geometry needed to create them, will be discussed in detail. The students will also get to work with Mastercam Solids. After surface/solid models have been created, we will dissect the 3D toolpaths menu to see which paths apply to different models. Solids In the Solids class, we discuss all the features of creating and modifying solids, turning surfaces into solids, and finding features on imported solids. We also discuss how to apply toolpaths to solid models. Lathe Our Mastercam Lathe class will teach the students how to draw and toolpath lathe parts in Mastercam. This 4-day class will show users how to create the geometry needed to create lathe parts in Mastercam and how to machine them. The students will use the first day of the class to draw parts from print and dimension them, as well as importing parts such as .DWG or .IGES files. The last 3 days of the session are focused on turning toolpaths. Facing, Roughing, Drilling, Grooving, Finish, Threading, and Cutoff toolpaths are created on parts drawn earlier in the class by the students. We also use Mastercam to perform other operations, such as the transfer of stock from the main spindle to the sub-spindle. C-Axis / Y-Axis Lathe Toolpaths This 1-day session is an extension of our Lathe training for those users who have C or Y axis capability on their machines. We discuss the use of milling and drilling toolpaths on lathe parts. The students will create toolpaths on the face and OD of several parts, and learn how to use the spindle as a rotary axis. Y axis toolpaths will also be created (when applicable) allowing not only the spindle to work as a rotary, but the live tooling to make Y axis moves also. Wire EDM This 3-day session will cover the Mastercam fundamentals, as well as how to create geometry and wirepaths. The wire training is designed to show examples of both 2D and 4-axis wirepaths, and the geometry used to create them. We will draw examples of each type and dimension them. Using the parts that the students have created, various wirepaths will be applied to discuss the parameters involved with making good wirepaths. 4-Axis Milling Toolpaths The students in this 1-day training will use the fourth axis options in Mastercam to create toolpaths for rotary axis machines. Creating and using toolplanes for index type cuts will be discussed, as well as full rotary axis cutting. Because this is a very specific type of training, the students will be expected to have a general knowledge of Mastercam. Multi-Axis Toolpaths The multi-axis toolpath class has recently been updated to include the new Advanced Multi-Axis Toolpaths. The class is now 3-days in length. The class covers 5-axis toolpaths such as Swarf, Curve, Drill, 3-axis to 5-axis conversion and 5-axis Multi-Surface Machining. Mastercam X Update Class - Our Version X update class is a two day course designed to help users of current Mastercam software get familiar with the new features and techniques in Version X. We will spend time using the new Mastercam X interface. This will include use and customization of the toolbars and an in depth look at producing geometry using the new Sketcher features. Students will learn how to create the brand new surface types available only in version X. Day two will be spent creating toolpaths, selecting geometry for toolpaths and setting your parameters. Students will be shown how to convert their old post processor, tool and material libraries so they can be used in version X. We will also look at the new machine and control definitions which will help Mastercam to understand the capabilities of your machine. Mastercam Certification Class Mastercam Certification is a new program from CNC Software. In general, it is a structured test whereby the applicant must design, program and machine a part. The part is then QCed by Mastercam. Successful completion allows the operator to then be Certified. For more details, please contact our office or visit www.cad-camtech.com. We have a special section that details the certification process. If you have any questions about the seminars or would like to attend one of them, please give me a call.
